Description

Model: HR-8065-2 Application: Universal (Non-Engine & Industrial Equipment)

Streamline Your Maintenance with Precision Tracking The Hardline Products® Vibration-Activated Hour Meter provides an effortless solution for tracking the service life of equipment where traditional wired connections are impractical or impossible. Designed specifically for non-engine applications—such as electric motors, compressors, trailers, PTOs, and diesel engines—this meter relies on advanced vibration-sensing technology to automatically record runtime the moment your equipment is in operation.

Engineered for Durability and Ease of Use Built to withstand harsh environments, this unit is 100% epoxy-encapsulated, rendering it fully waterproof and shock-resistant. With no external power source or complex wiring required, installation is a simple “peel-and-stick” process. The internal sealed lifetime battery ensures years of maintenance-free operation, allowing you to focus on the job at hand while the meter accurately logs critical service intervals.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Vibration-Sensing Technology: Automatically detects vibration to start and stop recording time, ensuring precise tracking of active duty cycles without direct electrical connection.
  • Universal Compatibility: Ideal for a wide range of machinery including electric motors, compressors, snowblowers, diesel engines, and heavy-duty trailers. (Note: Not recommended for off-road motorcycles being trailered; use model HR-9000-2 for that specific application).
  • Zero-Maintenance Power: Features a sealed, waterproof lifetime battery. No external power or charging is ever required.
  • Rapid Installation: No wiring necessary. Simply peel the adhesive backing and mount to any surface.
  • High-Visibility Display: Records up to 9,999.9 hours with a 0.1-hour (6-minute) resolution. The LCD screen remains visible whether the equipment is running or powered down.

Frequently Asked Questions

Installation & Compatibility

Q: How do I mount my hour meter? A: Our hour meters include two-sided tape and two serrated screws for mounting. You can use the tape and/or the screws. The tape alone is enough to hold the meter in most applications. You can mount your hour meter anywhere except on exhaust manifolds or mufflers. High engine heat temperature will not affect the meter. Vibration and water will not harm your meter either. Choose a location that is easy to read but out of the way from moving parts or an area where meter could be struck or scraped off.

Q: My “Hour Glass Icon” is not Flashing when my equipment is running A:  Our vibration meters are the most sensitive when laying flat on a surface, however sometimes it is easier to read when hanging vertically (like a picture or clock on the wall). We suggest testing your application area first before committing to a mounting location. Here’s how: Choose an area that is closest to the source of the engine’s or electric motors vibration. With the unit running press your vibration meter to the surface for 10-15 seconds with your fingers. The hour glass icon on the left side will begin blinking when it experiences non-stop vibration. If so that is a good mounting area. Proceed mounting with two-sided tape or screws depending on your application area. If the icon on the left hand side does not blink try the same area if possible holding the meter flat (horizontally). Our vibration meters are at the most sensitive when laid flat. If that does not work choose another application area and repeat testing site area again until the hour glass icon is blinking. Mount with tape or screws.

Q: Why is my screen always on? is this killing the battery? A: Our screens always stay “Lit” so you can glance at the meter anytime to read the hours. This does not affect the 10 year battery life of your meter.

Q: How do I know my meter is working? A: When installed correctly the “hour-glass” icon on the left hand side of the meter will flash when the equipment is running. Remember it will take 6 minutes of running before you see “.1” on the screen for total hours.

Q: My meter is recording time when I don’t want it to how do I stop this? A: The HR-8065-2 is a vibration activated hour meter, we do not recomend using it on equipment that is trailered. Sometimes just moving the meter to a different location will help with un-wanted recordings.

Features & Operation

Q: how do I turn on the meter to record? A: This meter is shipped in the off position and the screen says “OFF 2.5” there is no hours on your meter at this point. Enable your meter by holding down the grey button until the screen says “0.0” You only have to do this once

Durability & Lifespan

Q: Is the Hardline hour meter waterproof? A: Yes, it features an IP-68 waterproof rating. The meter is 100% epoxy-encapsulated, making it completely resistant to complete water submersion, heavy dust, shock, and extreme vibration.

Q: Does the hour meter have a replaceable battery? A: No, the unit features a sealed, internal lithium battery designed to last for 10 years. This completely sealed design ensures maximum durability and maintains the IP-68 waterproof rating throughout the meter’s lifespan.

Q: Is the hour meter I get been on the shelve for 2 years and now I only have eight years of life left? A: No, your hour meter is typically 2-3 weeks old, that’s it! We are the largest manufacture of hour meters and we can’t make them fast enough!
